Simply Organic Cocoa Cayenne Cake

Image

Warning: Do not ingest any of the mix when you open it. It will cause a horrendous coughing fit. After trying the mix and seeing how spicy it was, I was VERY hesitant to even make them. I was making them for bookclub and hate to take anything that tastes bad. The aroma of them cooking was also a little unpleasant to the nostrils. I tried a cupcake out of the oven and I wasn’t a huge fan. SO I made a pizza also just in case (Stonewall Kitchen Herbed Pizza Crust). My bookclub has 3 of us that are GF so we all make GF snacks to be accommodate which is awesome.

After I let them sit for a day and iced them with milk chocolate icing, it cut the spice down and they were well received. However, the full pizza I made also was completely gone. I would definitely make them again because although they look and taste like a normal chocolate cupcake, they have a little spice at the end.

Van’s Cinnamon Heaven Review

Image

I got this picture from google. My bowl NEVER lasts this long untouched because they are SO GOOD.

The ingredients I am actually pretty happy with:

Van’s Gluten Free Whole Grain Blend (Oat, Brown Rice, Millet, Quinoa and Amaranth Flours), Cane Sugar, Oat Fiber, Inulin, Invert Cane Sugar, Non-GMO Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Cinnamon, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Natural Mixed Tocopherols for Freshness.

The tocopherals can be gluten, but I am assuming a company like this with the gluten free label, knows to not use the ones that contain gluten.

Get of box of this stuff, it is heaven.  Cinnamon heaven.

P.S. I must go pour myself a bowl now.

A Great Resource for some GF Chain Restaurants

Here is a good website. Remember that a lot of places do NOT use separate pots/pans/counters for GF items compared to items that have gluten. So please, make sure you are aware of the kitchen situation if you are severely allergic.

Dominos Gluten Free Pizza Review

Beware: Dominos has no idea about cross-contamination. They make this pizza on already gluten filled flour floured surfaces. Therefore, You will ingest gluten when you ingest this pizza. If you are not very sensitive, you will be OK. If you are, skip it! I haven’t had it for awhile- like a year- because of this, so this Is not my picture- it’s google’s. But it looks like this.

It’s really freaking good. It’s thin crust, but not too crunchy. I normally eat three of the four slices. When soon to be hubs mentioned splitting I was aghast. What do you mean? I cannot split this pizza, I eat 3/4 of it. And then I can’t have that last piece later in the night. Get your own damn pizza, son! Seriously, he was really offended that I got that mad…over pizza. But do NOT MESS with a gluten intolerants favorite meal for real.

So go get (!!!!) it if you’re not that sensitive. Otherwise, I guess stick to making your own or buying Udi’s. OR going to Gettysburg as I suggested before and trying Deliso’s!

‘Gluten is my bitch’ book review

Download this book now. Or buy it. It’s amazing. I had a lot of laughs reading this book. It’s so informational as well- telling you where gluten is ‘hidden’ (which is a LOT of places- even Tylonel- which I promptly checked mine and Target brand is GF). Has a nice cookbook along with it.

I maybe wish I had bought the actual book cause I hate reading recipes and cooking with my kindle, I’m old school.

She has a blog also… gluten is my bitch on wordpress.

And like her on facebook!

This was my kind of book… but I also loved Chelsea Handler, Tucker Max, and Mindy from the office “Why is everybody hanging out without me?”
